To release:

Update CHANGES.txt
Change the version name and code in the app/build.gradle file.
Change the previous version handler text in strings.xml.
Commit it with CHANGELOG and VERSION directives.
Tag the commit (git tag v3.0.1).
Merge into master.
Push with --tags.

Upload APK to github releases.
